This collection, Pencil vs. Camera implements a sense of exotic brilliance that is really something new in photography. The whimsical vividness of the collection of drawings and pictures is just plain astonishing. The photos are obviously fantasized but the way they are drawn out and fit with the picture perfectly behind really brings the drawings to life and look believable. The stark contrast with the black and white drawings to the color picture also gives the drawing the fantasized look, almost like a dream.
And some of the other photos in the collection can really depict a dream, a woman walking a tight rope above the clouds, and a man envisioning mythical creatures through a telescope. All of these pictures display the creative dreaminess of the artist/photographer. And while some were serious or mystical, there were also the humorous pictures, like the blind man about to fall in the manhole. Overall, this collection is very creative and keeps the viewer intrigued.
